Map quiz

North America map quiz

The quiz names a country, you click it on the map: all 16 countries, in a random order every game, three tries each. First-try hits and your time make the score — and a Study mode shows every name before you start.

Not asked, too small to click at this scale: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

About this map quiz

How does the North America map quiz work? The map shows the region with its borders and no names. The quiz names a country; you click it. Right, and it fills in and stays filled. Wrong, and the country you clicked flashes and counts as an error; after three wrong tries the right one is shown and counts as missed. All 16 countries are asked once, in a random order every game. Drag to pan and pinch or scroll to zoom — on a phone too.

How many countries are in the North America map quiz? 16: every independent state of the region larger than 1,000 km². Territories, dependencies and places whose statehood is disputed are drawn for context but not asked.

Why are some countries not asked? A state smaller than 1,000 km² is a dot or nothing at this scale, so there is no fair way to click it: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. They are named under the map instead.

How is the map quiz scored? Countries found at the first click, out of all of them, plus your time. Every wrong click is counted; after the third on one country it is shown and counts as missed. On the board a player's best game counts, and among equal scores the quicker one ranks higher.
